Student Feedback

The best thing about John is his ability to adapt and create a learning experience for each student, working with your strengths and finding good methods for improving weaknesses. His sessions are completely geared toward the individual. I am 30 years old and have been playing "self taught" for years. John has helped me with theory, speed, dexterity, and breaking bad habits! If you haven't seen John play before you need to check out his youtube videos! This guy is fast! I have also taken my 11 year old son to Dr. Hot Licks and can say he works well with children, and beginners too.

There is a difference between playing the guitar and being a musician, so whether your trying something new or have been "playing the guitar" like me, John will make a musician out of you. Not only will you be able to jam but you will have a full understanding of your instrument to help you develop your own style.

As a beginner in general to music, I am so impressed with the progress Brent has helped me achieve on the drums. He has patiently taught me the proper way to read and play. Brent’s easy-going attitude creates a comfortable environment. His advanced knowledge and impressive playing are an inspiration to continue practicing and improving. I love that Brent can appreciate rock/metal music and is prepared to teach me the technique necessary for me to play that type of music. I couldn’t agree more with Dr. Hot Licks' School of Rock and Metal's motto: Why go to a school that doesn’t specialize in what you love?

John Taylor is a great teacher! He is patient, goes at your own pace, and explains everything as he goes.

I have been taking lessons with John for about two months and as difficult as learning guitar is, I feel much more comfortable with a guitar in my hands now. John's teaching technique is great in that he allows you to advance at your own pace and teaches you new things based on your level. He also encourages practice and progress which are both very necessary. I would recommend his school of guitar to anyone looking to learn because rather than teaching you random songs, he gives you the techniques to both play any songs as well as write your own.

My boys both showed interest in playing the guitar and bass about six months ago and to my surprise it doesn't appear to be a fad and had taken it to the next level. After purchasing their next level equipment, ie, better guitar and bass, it was time to look into lessons. I looked into teachers on line and since most of our purchases were @ Guitar Center, Doctor Hot Licks, John Taylor was recommended to us. John has allowed the kids to start with the basics and both kids are very pleased with their lessons and I can see the progress in their playing ability @ home and thats with only 5 lessons. I would recommend any parent looking to find a guitar teacher to John Taylor.

If you want to increase your guitar skills then this is the place to go. My name is Jimi and I used to play the same thing over and over. Once I found Dr. Hot Licks' lessons my variety really opened up. He has helped me challenge myself more and play it right. I drive 200 miles per lesson just to obtain Dr. Hot Licks' skills. If you're looking for lessons I wouldn't recommend anyone other than Dr. Hot Licks.
